Rashan Clark is Director, Real Estate – Data Center Origination at NRG Energy, where he leads brownfield and greenfield development strategy for large-scale data center projects. A core focus of his role is mineral-rights mitigation, including accommodation agreements, surface use agreements, title curative work, mineral consolidation, plug-and-abandon (P&A) strategy, and easements. His work integrates surface and subsurface control to deliver shovel-ready sites for hyperscale development. Rashan brings more than 20 years of real estate experience spanning oil & gas, commercial big-box retail, and municipal operations. At Target and Walmart, he led national portfolio initiatives involving site selection, private entitlements, redevelopment, dispositions, acquisitions, and commercial lease negotiations. His public-sector experience includes managing mineral assets and condemnation programs for the City of Greeley and streamlining public-entitlement processes for commercial land development at Denver International Airport. Earlier, as Senior Surface Land Negotiator for Hess Corporation, he oversaw SUAs, pipeline ROW acquisitions, reclamation programs, and permitting across the Bakken. He began his career as an upstream oil & gas attorney at Marathon Oil, supporting field operations on surface and subsurface matters. With a cross-disciplinary background spanning legal, operational, mineral, and entitlement frameworks, Rashan specializes in resolving surface-mineral estate conflicts and delivering the development certainty required for high-density energy and hyperscale data-center projects. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and holds a JD from Thurgood Marshall School of Law and a BS from Xavier University of Louisiana. A native of Galveston, he enjoys fishing, travel, and cooking, and spending time with his wife of 17 years, Lenaise, and their three children—Ramsey (13), Lauren (16), and Lawson (8). Fun Fact: His family was featured on House Hunters during their relocation to Minot, North Dakota with Hess.
